The new Ford Focus 2022 receives an update that includes several improvements in terms of connectivity and safety, a selection of electrified engines and light cosmetic touches. These novelties are carried over to all variants of the oval signature compact.
The fourth generation of the Ford Focus receives a restyling to continue climbing positions in the sales ranking of its segment. The update comes three years after the compact’s launch on the European market. Beyond a series of aesthetic touches, the older brother of the Ford Fiesta presents several novelties that affect the technological section and the mechanical offer available in our market.
Ford Focus continues to be available with two body options (five-door version and family format) and three variants (Titanium, ST-Line and Active). In addition, the American firm has also just presented the new Focus ST, which has been developed by the Ford Performance division and represents the most performance configuration of the entire range.
On an aesthetic level, the new Ford Focus presents a higher hood, with a grill that shows the manufacturer’s logo in the center of it. The new ones LED headlights are standard on the entire range and now include the functionality of the integrated fog lights. At the rear we find redesigned lamps, with a darker center section and a striking new loop-shaped light pattern.
“Each Focus exudes quality and modernity driven by technology, while each variant has a character with which our customers can connect emotionally, reflecting their own personality”, has pointed out Amko Leenarts, Ford of Europe Design Director.
Inside, the compact from the Detroit firm takes an important technological leap thanks to the incorporation of the new sistema multimedia SYNC 4, which is starring a huge 13.2-inch touchscreen located in the center of the dashboard. This digital panel now brings together the HVAC system control that dispenses with the traditional physical controls. The system is compatible con Android Auto and Apple CarPlay and includes wireless updates.
On the other hand, the new Ford Focus also increases the number of assistants and driving aids, which now includes Blind Spot Assist (capable of intervening on the steering in case of detecting a possible collision in a lane change maneuver), Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop & Go function, Active Pre-Collision Assist, signals or the lane centering system, among other functions.
In relation to the mechanical section, the Focus range offers different options for gasoline, mild-hybrid engines and diesel versions. On the one hand, the 1.0-liter EcoBoost gasoline engine Ford is available in powers of 100 CV y 125 CV and a six-speed manual gearbox. Versions EcoBoost Hybrid are associated with a three cylinder block 1.0 that receives the support of a 48 volt electrical system and can develop 125 o 155 CV power.
These two engines certify an average consumption of 5,1 l/100km according to the WLTP cycle and can be combined with 7-speed dual-clutch powershift manual or automatic gearboxes. In addition, they benefit from all the advantages associated with the use of the ECO environmental badge de la DGT.
Regarding diesel, we find the 1.5 EcoBlue block with powers of 95 hp and 120 hp that announces a consumption of 4.0 l/100 km WLTP. Both versions are offered with a six-speed manual transmission and an eight-speed automatic transmission for the more powerful variant.
The new Focus also features the technology Drive Mode selectable, which allows drivers to choose between Normal, Sport and Eco modes, which can adjust the responses of the accelerator pedal, electronic power steering and automatic gearbox to suit the driving scenario. Active models also feature Slippery mode to increase confidence in low grip conditions and Trail mode which is designed to help maintain momentum on buckling surfaces.
