The Munich Motor Show has just kicked off and there are already several vehicle manufacturers that have begun to present their novelties for the next few years. Among them, the signature of the star that, following its path towards electrification. has unveiled the new Mercedes-Benz EQE, Mercedes-Benz EQB, Mercedes-AMG EQS 53 4MATIC+, Mercedes Concept EQG and, finally, the prototype featured in this article, the Mercedes-Maybach EQS Concept. The prototype sits on the EVA2 platform, a modular architecture for high-end and luxury electric vehicles from Mercedes-Benz that will also support other models such as the new Mercedes-Benz EQS. In this case, we are facing a large SUV that promises to offer an extremely high level of refinement and sophistication to compete directly with references such as the Bentley Bentayga or the Rolls-Royce Cullinan. Although some changes will arrive, the German brand affirms that this concept it sports a design very close to the final production version.

To sculpt the lines of this luxurious SUV, Mercedes uses the concepto Purpose Design that gives rise to a dynamic silhouette that envelops the whole. It is striking to see how gigantic grill with vertical slats which has become one of the Maybach house brands is integrated into a fully faired surface. A solution typical of zero-emission vehicles that, among other things, works in favor of the aerodynamic coefficient of the whole. To this is added a exclusive two-tone metallic paint for the bodywork that combines obsidian black and zirconia red.

In turn, the door handles are flush with the side surface and, upon detecting the proximity of users, they unfold automatically. Both the front and rear light clusters have a highly ragged design and feature LED technology.

The interior of the car is committed to a markedly futuristic design language that once again takes the concept of the living room as a source of inspiration. This high-flying SUV is designed to travel first class and, therefore, includes a series of solutions to fulfill this task. As we can see in the images, the Mercedes-Maybach EQS Concept is committed to a four-seater configuration with seats with integrated headrests that come trimmed in white leather. The new Hyperscreen fills the entire width of the dashboard and includes the latest update to the MBUX system of the brand.

In front of the driving position we find a jet-type steering wheel very similar to the one proposed at the time by the Tesla Model S Plaid, which surely does not reach the production model. There is no lack of the use of noble materials on the interior surfaces, as well as different inserts in white chrome and rose gold and a customizable ambient lighting system.

Mercedes-Maybach has not revealed too much information related to the technical section of this prototype. It just announces that the electric SUV will equip a large capacity battery that will allow it to travel up to 600 kilometers according to the WLTP cycle. On this basis will appear a second model with exclusively electric propulsion, the EQS SUV, whose series production will begin in 2022, before that of the Maybach.
